Northern Saw-whet Owl
A mother Northern Saw-whet Owl investigates the interesting camera wielding visitor outside her nest cavity in a Trembling Aspen. After photographing her until the sun set behind a distant mountain, I camped beneath her and her family. Spending the night drifting in and out of sleep while listening to mom and dad deliver prey to the hungry chicks was an amazing experience. Two weeks later, her nestlings fledged to explore the outside world.
