AGami Heron, Ecuador

Certainly one of the world's most spectacular wading birds. Stalking through the shallows, they use their extremely long bills to snatch small fish and crustaceans from beneath the surface. Normally very elusive, I was fortunate to spot this timid bird, albeit very briefly, out in the open while kayaking in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
