Black-tailed Trainbearer, Ecuador

Inhabitants of the shrubby flanks of high Andean peaks, aptly named Trainbearers boast the longest tails of any hummingbird. These streaming feathers are hit together rapidly during display flights, causing a loud snapping sound - used to ward off any intruders and attract nearby females.
