Giant Otter, Peru

A Giant Otter peers out like a periscope from the surface of an oxbow lake, deep in the Peruvian Amazon. Giant Otters can grow to reach nearly 6 feet long and weigh over 70 pounds. With a diet consisting almost exclusively of fish, these amazingly proficient hunters consume up to 10 pounds per day, showing a particular liking for piranha and catfish.
