REd-and-green Macaws, Peru

Dozens of macaws and parrots descend upon this clay lick, known locally as a "colpa", each day. Aiding in the digestion of the highly acidic seeds and fruits that comprise the majority of their diets. This daily ritual also serves as an important social event for these highly intelligent birds.
