ARCTIC TERN

BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

An Arctic Tern displays from a favourite perch on a lakeshore in British Columbia’s Interior. Making the longest annual migration of any animal on earth, this bird was—in all likelihood—coursing over the surface of Antarctica’s Weddell Sea just a few weeks before this photo was taken… 15,000km away in a straight line!
